Attending Mississippi State University |
When Ms. Esco first visited Mississippi State University, often referred to as State, she felt at home. This sounds cliché, but at that point, she had been on so many college campuses over the years, State was the only place she felt was welcoming, homey, and could imagine herself attending.
Apart from the warm atmosphere that State offered, she wanted to attend a university where she did not know anyone. She wanted to have her own experience at university rather than an experience she "should" have a particular university based on what friends and family experienced. Being able to attend a new university in an unfamiliar place was her way of doing what I wanted, not what others wanted for her. Her decision to attend State was the best decision she could have ever because it offered her many opportunities to learn and grow. She was able to make life long friends, make professional connections, learn life professional skills, as well as make plenty of unforgettable memories. |
Bachelor of Arts in German
In 8th grade, Mrs. Gudmundsson, first exposed her to the German language in an introduction to German class. Her curiosity and fascination with a foreign language and the earlier exposure to German led her to study German at the university level.
People constantly ask her, "Why did you study German?" After traveling to Germany, reading German literature, and learning about Germany's history and culture, she yearned to understand the German language. This would open new opportunities for her and would allow her to gain a new perspective of life by reading literature in its original format. Ms.Esco is extremely proud of herself for fulfilling a childhood dream of graduating university with a foreign language degree. While she will never be fluent in German, since she does not live in Germany, this will not stop her from exercising her German skills not only because it's fun, she believe it is a good way to exercise my mind. |
Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in International Business, Focus Marketing
Marketing is a subject that fascinated her for years because it is integrated into our daily lives through tv commercials, product packaging, or billboards. As her education continued, she wanted to focus more on market research rather than advertising.
She chose to concentrate on international business because it allows her to understand how the business world works outside the United States. She believes this is an important concept to understand because today's economy is globally connected. The skills she learned in university can be applied to any field, especially in the community planning field through the following ways: conduct market research; improve community engagement by implementing various ways to connect with the community; analyze consumer behavior. |
